About Us
New media has changed the way people all over the world receive news, communicate, and work. Generally speaking, this is the real time delivery of digital media which results in real time end results. In simple terms, you get what you want, when you want it. Even though new media may be a generic phrase that encompasses many types of communication, it is anything but basic. Some of the most common forms of new media include: internet including websites and blogs, streaming video and audio, email, chat rooms, instant messenger, online communities and forums, web advertising, DVD media, CD media, internet telephones (Skype), and digital cameras.
When compared to traditional media, such as magazines and newspapers, it is easy to see the difference. While old forms of media are still used, they are quickly being taken over by new media. People want accurate information now, not later. With most forms of new media this is exactly what they get – not to mention the fact that advanced technology makes the entire process simple.
It can be somewhat complex to understand how the term “new media” is being used because it touches on many different levels from data communication between a company and end user via the internet to communication through email, internet telephones and chat rooms.
New Media Technology
Those who are not involved with new media technology often times find it difficult to understand the industry and the direction in which it is headed. If you take the time to consider the technology that is being used it is easy to see how it effects the world every minute of the day.
In the past, the word media to most people meant newspapers and magazines – nothing more, nothing less. This can still be the case in today’s day and age, but you must also consider that there are new methods that have become far more prevalent.
Take for example the downfall of the newspaper industry. It does not take much to realize that this was caused by the increase in internet usage. Instead of paying for the newspaper and reading news that may be many hours old, the internet offers free updates as they happen. Simply put, new media delivers results in real time. The same cannot be said for old media.
New Media Marketing
With the growth of new media more and more marketing opportunities are coming about. This segment has grown year over year, and the trend is sure to continue well into the future. Advertisers have found that new media marketing allows them to convey their message to the appropriate demographic without wasting time or money. This has led to a continual increase in money spent on search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click marketing (PPC), web development, content management systems, and video syndication.
New media has come a long way in a short period of time thanks to the emergence of computers, internet usage, networked systems, and other digital technologies. Even though this has led to the downfall of the old media industry, the world has responded well.
As new media continues to grow so will the technology and marketing that goes along with it.
